We provide complete service from Landscape Design and Consultation to Installation and Maintenance for both residential and commercial Landscapes.

Q:  How long have you been a Licensed Landscape Contractor?

A:  I obtained my first Landscape Contractors License in 1985 immediately after I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley where I studied Landscape Architecture. I started my company Tierra Linda Landscaping that same year and specialized in the design and building of Sustainable Landscape Gardens, many of which were award-winning Xeriscape, (or drought tolerant) gardens.  I obtained my Oregon All-Phase Landscape Contractors license after moving to Southern Oregon. My company, One Earth Landscape is an “all-phase” landscape construction company servicing the Rogue Valley.

Q: You studied Landscape Architecture but you are a Landscape Contractor, what is the difference between a Landscape Architect and a Landscape Contractor?

A: A Landscape Architect designs plans for a landscape, and a Landscape Contractor builds the landscape. Because of my education in Landscape Architecture, and my years of experience in Landscape Construction, I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with clients to first visualize and then realize their Landscape garden goals. And because I do both the design and installation, I save clients time and money.

Q: Are their different types or levels of Landscape Contractor in Oregon?

A: Yes, a Landscape Contractor is licensed through the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board, (the LCB). A candidate for the Landscape Contractors license must first qualify to take and then pass a state board administered examination for one of three distinct phases, (or levels), of the Landscape Contractors license. The most comprehensive type of license is the “All-Phase plus Backflow” license, which qualifies the Landscape Contractor to perform all-phases of landscape construction work. One Earth Landscape is an “All-Phase” Landscape construction company; with licenses: #8608 and #15126.

Q: What types of landscape work and awards have you won?

A: I handle all phases of design, installation and maintenance of commercial and residential landscaping, but my special emphasis has always been in environmentally sustainable garden design and installation. Many of my landscape gardens have won awards in the category of Xeriscape, (gardens that use specific construction techniques and drought tolerant plants to create gardens that conserve water and maintenance).
